Photo of Bill Schmidt Bill Schmidt
Bill Schmidt is a founding member and the leader of the Basement Brass Quintet. Bill is the principal tuba player with the Anderson Symphony Orchestra. He also plays with the Indianapolis Brass Choir, and Kokomo Park Band. Bill directs the Starry Knights (where he often plays the baritone saxophone and clarinet and, on rare occasions, drum set). He completed his Masters in Music Performance on Tuba from Butler University in May of 2009. Bill is an avid bike rider, completing the Hilly Hundred on several occasions and enjoys finding new trails to explore with his wife Ellen.

A founding member of the Basement Brass Quintet, Jim Rodenbeck is also the Principal Trombonist of the Carmel Symphony Orchestra and a trombonist with the Starry Knights. Jim received his BM in Music Education from Butler University. He has studied trombone with John Bart and Jim Beckel. Through Missions Alive, Jim provides video production and web services for missionaries. He also maintains an active private teaching studio, is a youth sponsor at the Church at Mt. Gilead, and has a personal ministry (www.growinchrist.com).

Shaun Cooper, a member of the Basement Brass Quintet since 2000, is the Principal Horn of the St. Luke’s Orchestra, the Fourth Horn of the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic, and plays with the Kokomo Park Band. He is active in a variety of chamber groups and is a brass sectional instructor for the Wayne Township schools in Indianapolis. Shaun received his B.M. degree in Horn Performance from Indiana University, where he studied with Michael Hatfied and Randy Gardner. His M.M. is from Butler University, where he studie with Dr. Gail Lewis. While a student at IU, he participated in an exchange program at the Royal Academy of Music in London where he studied for a semester with international soloists Michael Thompson and Richard Watkins. Away from music, he enjoys mountain biking and fishing with his dogs, Moby and Sadie.

Steve received a B.M.E degree from Indiana University where he studied with Louis Davidson and a M.M.E. degree from Butler University where he studied with Robert Wood. Steve is the principal trumpet of the Carmel Symphony Orchestra and a member of the Indianapolis Brass Choir and the Indianapolis Civic Theatre orchestra. He has also performed with the Lafayette and Columbus Symphony Orchestras. Steve’s day job is the Director of Bands at Southport Middle School. During his free time Steve enjoys backpacking and snow skiing with his wife Marie and 4-wheeling with his brothers.
Terri Ewigleben
Terri Ewigleben is currently employed at MSD of Wayne on the west side of Indy. She teaches K-6 music at Robey Elementary school. She resides in Brownsburg with her husband, Tom, and has two children, Trevor and Tyler. She is the principal trumpet of Lafayette Symphony Orchestra and also a member of the Terre Haute Symphony. Terri also regularly plays at area churches as well as for weddings. She has played with the Anderson Symphony Orchestra, Carmel Symphony Orchestra, Columbus Symphony, and the Billings Symphony. She is the Children’s Choir Director at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church and works with the youth there as well. Terri is just finishing her Master’s Program at IUPUI in Curriculum Theory and Technology. In her free time she enjoys many outdoor activities.
